Gill Farm Accommodation


The Barn, at Gill Farm, is a self contained unit set away from the main house with ample parking and access. A slopped path leads to the main door into the kitchen area. There is a slight threshold to step over where after the ground floor is on one level.

From the lounge the double patio doors open and then from one step down onto a patio area with table and chairs overlooking the splendid garden and pond.

• Being set in the countryside the only viable means of transport is the car or bicycle.
  RouteMaster maps are available.

• The village of Mersham is 2 miles, Aldington 3 miles and Ashford 5 miles.

• Ashford has Shop-mobility in the centre.

• Ashford also has various other services such as hire or cleaning.

• Ashford, Canterbury and Folkestone all have disabled toilets.

• It is suggested disabled people are accompanied by a companion.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

• There is ample parking for three cars adjacent to the Barn.

• Guests will be greeted on arrival.

• On entering the property there is a gravel drive up to the house then opening onto a
  smooth block paved drive area for parking.

• No pets or smoking permitted on the premises.

• 'Gill Farm' is displayed at the entrance and 'The Barn' is displayed at the Barn.

• Arrangements can be made prior to arrival if at unsocial hours.

• From the car there is a gentle paved slope up to the main door. At night an
  automatic light will be triggered on the path.

Main Entrance, Area

• There is the one entrance from the car parking area.

• At the door entrance there is a door threshold. There is also another external light.

• Guests will be met and taken into the premises and various items shown and operating procedures shown.

• The lounge area is fitted with a TV also there is the radio and CD/DVD played which are all operated from a remote control.

• The Barn is well lit with wall light and carefully positioned table lamps.

• Guests will be handed a set of keys and will be held responsible for those.

• The main door lock is a 5 lever mortise lock.

• Once inside the property the floor is level. With no threshold in any doorway so suitable for wheelchairs or walking aids.


• Property is situated on one ground floor.

• Carpet in lounge, bedrooms and hall with tiles in kitchen and bathroom.


• Carpet in lounge, bedrooms and hall with tiles in kitchen and bathroom.

• Lounge opens onto large paved patio area with table, 4 chairs and umbrella. Views across pond and garden.


• Bedrooms have normal door widths.

• Bedroom one - two single beds.

• Bedroom two - one double bed.

• There are no tea making facilities in the rooms as the kitchen is nearby.

Bathroom, Shower-room & Toilet

• The bathroom has a large walk-in shower and toilet.

• The shower has a hand rail.

• The bathroom floor is of non-slip tiles.

• The door is of standard width and the space inside can accommodate a wheel chair.
  The washing machine is sited here.

Self-Catering Kitchen

• The kitchen is situated off the main door.

• Hot water is by thermostatically control electric supply.

• All taps are twist.

• Electric hob/oven with separate microwave.

• Suggested disabled person accompanied by able person for kitchen use.

• Fridge and freezer in kitchen under work surface.

• Washing line outside.

Grounds and Gardens

• Extensive garden area with flowers, scrubs, trees and pond.

• Grass undulating and uneven. (Wildlife habitat)

• Wild life and birds.

• Easy access from The Barn to garden.

• Large natural pond unguarded.

• Not suitable for small children under 12 years of age.


Additional Information

• Fire extinguishers sited each end of the corridor in the unit.

• Fire blanket in kitchen.

• Smoke alarm in hall outside bedrooms.

• All units tested by Chubb and recorded in the 'Fire Risk Assessment'.

• Wi-Fi available to all guests.

• Welcome book in The Barn giving all details required plus places to eat and visit.

• Guest book for present guest to read and obtain others guests suggestions of places in the Kent area.
